The participation of our Country to the 54th International Exposition of Art of the Venice Biennale has got all the characteristics of the exceptionality; the curator of "Padiglione Italia", Vittorio Sgarbi, has indeed elaborated a project conceived with an original criterion, highlighting the importance of the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy, predicting important and numerous special initiatives, among which the expositions promoted in the Italian Regions on collaboration with the Regional, Provincial and Municipal Administrations.
In regard to Campania, the critic from Ferrara has chosen the Compound Ex Tobacco Factory Centola, excellent example of industrial archeology of PontecagnanoFaiano, as ideal location for the exposition of the contemporary artists of the Region.
The exposition is promoted by the Municipality of Pontecagnano with the contribution of the Province of Salerno and Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, it is curated personally by Vittorio Sgarbi himself and more than 90 artists among painters, sculptors, ceramists, photographers, video-artists, graphics, designers and authors of installations are involved.
"The presence in Pontecagnano is equivalent to the one in Venice - says Sgarbi - and sometimes has motivated more title for esthetic considerations that exclude the indications of a writer, poet, director, philosopher, elected to patron as happened in Venice. An open commission with efficient signals from regional origin, has proposed the artists that I have observed with great interest and selected, I hope efficaciously and respectfully for this 54th Edition of the Venice Biennale, the first one in the Salerno area in the Padiglione Italia in his ideal location: the Compound ex Tobacco Factory Centola".
The inauguration will be open to the public, on September 29th at 7 PM, Sgarbi himself will be at the inauguration with the Major of Pontecagnano, Ernesto Sica who says:
"An artistic exhibition very important in PontecagnanoFaiano is an event not to be missed, an unique occasion. The quality of the artworks of the artists is very high and I'm sure that Centola will become a reference point for the world of art of the entire Region"
After the inauguration the curator Vittorio Sgarbi will do a striking lectiomagistralis on the Art, in the square in front of the expositive Compound.

La partecipazione del nostro Paese alla 54. Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte della Biennale di Venezia, ha tutti i caratteri dell'eccezionalità il curatore del Padiglione Italia, Vittorio Sgarbi, ha infatti elaborato un progetto concepito con un criterio originale, sottolineando l'importanza del 150' anniversario dell'Unità d'Italia, prevedendo numerose e importanti iniziative speciali, tra cui le esposizioni promosse nelle Regioni italiane in collaborazione con le Amministrazioni Regionali, Provinciali e Comunali. Per quanto riguarda la Campania, il critico ferrarese ha scelto il Complesso Ex Tabacchificio Centola, egregio esempio di archeologia industriale di Pontecagnano Faiano, come sede ideale per l'esposizione degli artisti contemporanei della Regione. L'esposizione promossa dal Comune di Pontecagnano, con il contributo della Provincia di Salerno e della Camera di Commercio di Salerno, è curata personalmente dallo stesso Vittorio Sgarbi, e vede coinvolti oltre 90 artisti tra pittori, scultori, ceramisti, fotografi, video-artisti, grafici, designer e autori di installazioni.
"La presenza a Pontecagnano è equivalente a quella a Venezia - dice Sgarbi - e talvolta ha più motivato titolo per considerazioni estetiche che prescindono dalle indicazioni di uno scrittore, di un poeta, di un regista, di un filosofo, eletto a patrono, come accade a Venezia. Una commissione, aperta, anche con efficaci segnalazioni di provenienza regionale, ha proposto gli artisti che io ho osservato con grande interesse e selezionato, spero efficacemente e rispettosamente, per questa 54. Edizione della Biennale di Venezia, la prima nel salernitano in un Padiglione Italia che ha trovato la sua sede ideale nel Complesso ex Tabacchificio Centola".
L'inaugurazione, che sar&aqgrave; aperta al pubblico, è fissata per Giovedì 29 Settembre, ore 19.00, e lo stesso Vittorio Sgarbi vi presenzierà insieme al Sindaco di Pontecagnano, Ernesto Sica, che ha così commentato: "Una manifestazione artistica così importante a Pontecagnano Faiano è un evento da non perdere, un'occasione unica. La qualità delle opere degli artisti è altissima, e sono sicuro che il Centola diventerà il punto di riferimento per il mondo dell'arte dell'intera Regione"
Dopo l'inaugurazione il curatore Vittorio Sgarbi terrà una suggestiva lectio magistralis sull'Arte, nella piazza antistante il Complesso espositivo.
